Archives Policy

The University will normally wish to collect and preserve material relating to the following:

 -     The central bodies of the University - Court, Council and Senate - and the
       various committees which are subsidiary to the latter two of these bodies

 -     records which throw light on learning and teaching; research and technology
       transfer; and the management and administration of the University

 -     the admission, registration, progress, examination and graduation of students

 -     matters of legal importance including deeds, contracts, leases and similar   
       documents which have enabled the University to establish or maintain a legal     
       title

 -     financial matters

 -     the physical estate, including the acquisition of land and property and the
       construction of new buildings

 -     records which illumine the social, cultural, recreational and other activities of        
       the University and of the formal and informal bodies established by its staff and
       students

 -     the relationship of the University with benefactors, individual and corporate

 -     records concerned with the relationship of the University with the local and
       wider community, particularly in Northern Ireland, including central, regional
       and local government and their agencies as well as European, international and
       overseas bodies
