Deposits in the Archive Deposits
in the Archive Letters were sent to the Administrative Departments, and to retired colleagues and other individuals with links to the University, soliciting material for the Archive. It has to be said that the initial response was slow, but the exercise resulted in some worthwhile donations. More importantly, arguably, these contacts resulted in other individuals hearing about the Archive through the original recipients, and offering interesting material in turn. A more detailed list of the deposits already received appears at Appendix 3. Apart from the material rescued from the Cavehill Building mentioned above, some significant deposits to date include: six box files of NUU committee papers from Mr Ian Kennedy; two boxes of material relating to the development of Student Services and international student activities from Dr Brian Caul; one box of documents and photographs relating to drama at NUU from Dr Tony Bareham; eleven box files of documents from the merger period from Dr Arthur Williamson; an extensive collection of press cuttings relating to the early days of the Ulster Polytechnic, which will complement NUU material already held, from the Press Office; and memoir material came from Sir Robert Kidd and Prof. Alan Milton. It is planned that files of course documents from Academic Registry will come to the Archive over the summer period.
