HESA Return (Higher Education Statistics Agency)

Data Update

HESA was setup in 1993 following a Government White Paper ‘Higher
Education: A New Framework’, which called for more coherence in higher
education statistics.

HESA is now the central source for higher education statistics and has
standardised and streamlined the data collection and publication process to
become a respected point of reference.

Since the 2003/04 academic year, the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) have introduced a new record of staff data that combines and replaces the several staff data streams that were collected previously. The University is required to keep this information up to date for all staff.
