Graduation

Graduation ceremonies are a highlight for our students and their families, and also for our staff. Graduation is a significant milestone for each student and your Ulster University degree is a springboard to achieving your career ambitions and shaping your future aspirations. There are two main conferment points in the academic year, one in the summer (usually June/July) and the other in the winter (usually December). In addition if you have successfully completed postgraduate research, you may have your award conferred in spring (usually April).

Summer graduation ceremonies take place either during the last week in June or the first week in July. Students from the Belfast campus graduate along with students from the Jordanstown campus normally at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast. The graduation ceremonies for students from the Coleraine campus take place on the Coleraine campus. The graduation ceremonies for students at Magee take place at the Millennium Forum in Londonderry.

Winter graduation ceremonies take place in December on the Jordanstown campus for students from Belfast and Jordanstown while the ceremonies for Coleraine and Magee students alternate between the Coleraine campus and the Millennium Forum, Londonderry.

In order to attend, you must have successfully completed your course and paid all fees and any debts owing to the University.

Application to attend graduation is made online and you will be notified by email each year when the Online Graduation system opens. There is a charge for attendance at a graduation ceremony which includes the hire of academical dress and two guest tickets.

If you have already completed your studies in Semester One, or are expected to do so by June of the relevant year, you will be eligible to register to attend your graduation. If you are a postgraduate student on a linked Master’s course and wish to exit with a Certificate/Diploma, you will normally be included in the winter graduation ceremony.
