The University of Ulster Foundation
Background and Aims
The University of Ulster Foundation was established in 2001, after a name change from the Northern Ireland Educational Foundation. The Foundation assists in building relationships and raising funds to support a number of strategic University initiatives. The Foundation has both internal and external board members who work together to pursue opportunities, which will not only raise funds for the University, but also contribute to positioning Ulster as a leading centre of excellence in selected areas of its activity.
University of Ulster Foundation Board Members are committed to increasing the level of private giving to the University both in terms of the amount raised and the number of donors, and to enhancing understanding among the University’s alumni and other friends of the need for private giving to support Ulster’s vision of ‘Excellence Plus’
While the University of Ulster Foundation is constituted as a separate entity, that is, as a company limited by guarantee, its work is at all times consistent with the University’s strategic direction and corporate aims. A strategic plan has been developed for the Foundation, the current areas of focus of which are as follows:
In addition the Foundation is supportive of activities designed to widen access to higher education.
The Foundation Board strategically recruits external members who will assist with one or more of the defined areas. The Development and Alumni Relations Office services the University of Ulster Foundation.
