| Kate Bond |
|
 |
Director of Development and Alumni Relations
Kate has a professional background in development including fundraising and project management in Northern Ireland in the private and public sectors having worked for several arts organisations and two local authorities. Prior to joining the University, she was Arts Manager for the city and district of Armagh where her main responsibility was to lead the design, build and establishment of the Market Place Theatre and Arts Centre. Kate has headed up the University’s Development and Alumni Relations Office since August 2010.

Oonagh Kane |
|

Development Manager
Oonagh has over 15 years experience in the charitable and voluntary sector, working for a range of organisations in fundraising, project management and event management roles. Most recently she worked with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and the Participation and Practice of Rights Project. Oonagh joined the Development and Alumni Relations Office in 2011 where she manages the Major Gifts and Annual Fund teams. Oonagh has a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Ulster.

| Caroline Armstrong |
|
 |
Major Gifts Officer
After graduating from the University of Bristol with a BA Hons in French and Drama, Caroline fundraised for a variety of organisations including the Parkinson’s Disease Society, UNICEF, St. Peter’s Hospice (Bristol) and the Bristol Old Vic. She then worked as a consultant for a number of years, raising significant funding for arts organisations based in the south-west of England. Following a two year career break in France with her family, Caroline moved back to Northern Ireland in July 2009, and began work as a fundraiser for the Lyric Theatre, Belfast, before joining the University of Ulster in August 2011. She also completed a Diploma in Business Management at the Ulster Business School in July 2010. She has successfully fundraised via legacies, trusts and foundations, corporates and major gifts.

| Nigel McClure |

Annual Fund Officer
Nigel is currently responsible for the planning, management and implementation of all Annual Fund related fundraising initiatives. Prior to this appointment he worked in commercial development and fundraising for the Ulster Sports Academy and has many years’ experience in fundraising within the voluntary sector. Nigel is a graduate of Ulster having completed an M.A. in Marketing in 1993 and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Brid McLaughlin |
|

Alumni Relations Assistant
After completing a BA in Applied Languages at the University of Ulster and a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Language Studies at the University of St Andrews, Brid spent a number of years working as Community Fundraising Assistant for Marie Curie Cancer Care in Edinburgh.
After returning to Belfast, she took up the post of Alumni Relations Assistant in October 2008. Brid’s main responsibility in the department is managing the Alumni Fund.

| Tim Kerr |
|

Development Managaer (Arts & Culture)
Tim Kerr has a background in fundraising and the arts. He was the founding Director of the Association for Business Sponsorship of the Arts (now called Arts and Business) in Northern Ireland and was the Head of Development at the Royal National Theatre, London. He went on to become Chief Executive of Opera Northern Ireland and subsequently a freelance producer and consultant. He has served on the Board of a number of organisations including Opera Circus, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and the Ulster Youth Orchestra. He is currently Chair of the Play Resource Centre in Belfast and a Director of Opera Theatre Company in Dublin.

| Hugh Mulholland |
|

Curator
Hugh Mulholland, Curator is responsible for the University Art Collecton as well as programming an ongoing series of exhibitions at the University Gallery. Hugh also acts as consultant on the University's behalf to external agencies in respect to the delivery of specific projects these include; his role as project manager for a major public art commission for the Belfast Harbour Commissioners and as Curator for a significant survey exhibition of works from Magnum Photographers who have been on assignment in Derry as part of Derry-Londonderry UK City of Culture.
Hugh has worked as a curator for over 20 years and was founding Director of Context Gallery, Derry and Director of Ormeau Baths Gallery from 1997 - 2006. He is currently Director of the third space gallery Belfast and has worked as Counsultant Curator at the MAC, Belfast.

| Kelly Gordon |

Clerical Assistant
Kelly joined the Arts & Culture team within the Development and Alumni Relations Office in 2004 as a clerical assistant on the Belfast campus. During this time Kelly has completed a HNC in Administration and IT and an Adverstising, Marketing & PR Diploma. Kelly’s main duties include assisting with the organisation of events, marketing, financial transactions and provide support to the Arts & Culture Manager primarily on the Belfast and Jordanstown campuses.

Cheryl is currently working as a Clerical Assistant in the Development and Alumni Relations Office providing clerical support for event delivery at Coleraine and Magee campuses. Cheryl began working with the University in 2003.

Sandra Irwin |

Executive Assistant
Sandra began working at the former Ulster Polytechnic in August 1980 for the Information Services and Publications Office. Her work within the University has included staff and student recruitment, corporate events, press office, internal communications, and publications all within the Department of Public Affairs. She joined the Alumni Relations Office in December 2007 and provides support for a wide range of activities, including: the production of the alumni magazine ‘The Ulster Graduate’; the management of the Alumni Relations events with Arts and Culture; manages the range of memorabilia that is available to both the internal staff and graduates. Sandra provides general administrative support to the Development and Alumni Relations Office and also to the Alumni Association Executive Committee.

Development Services Manager
Alison has spent much of her career to date working overseas as an academic chair and as a member of the Business Faculty with a higher/further education institution in the Middle East. In addition to her experience abroad, she has more recently been involved in development whilst working within enterprise education in Northern Ireland.
Alison joined the Development and Alumni Relations Office in September 2011 as Development Services Manager. Her responsibilities include managing operational support for the Fundraising, Arts and Culture and Alumni Relations teams.

| Abbey Wilson |

Researcher & Proposal Writer
Abbey worked in industry as a Communications Officer before returning to higher education to complete an MSc in Communications, Advertising and Public Relations. Prior to taking up the role of Researcher and Proposal Writer in the DARO, Abbey developed and implemented student engagement initiatives within the Ulster Business School. In her current role, Abbey conducts relevant research to support the fundraising team and assists in the search for funding from a variety of sources including trusts and foundations.

| Nicola McIlroy |

Administrative Assistant (Database & IT)
After graduating from the University of Dundee with an MA Hons degree in Psychology and an MSc in Applied Computing, Nicola worked for a number of years as a Web Accessibility and Usability Consultant for the Digital Media Access Group, based within the School of Computing, University of Dundee. Nicola returned to Belfast in 2006 where she continued to work within Web Accessibility and most recently worked as a Mobile Device Test Engineer for Mformation Technologies Inc. Nicola graduated in June 2009 with an MPhil by Research in Applied Computing.
Nicola joined the Alumni Relations Office in July 2009 in the post of Database and IT Administrator. Nicola's main responsibilities are managing the Development and Alumni Relations database and websites.

Debbie Caulfield |
|
Executive Assistant
Debbie Caulfield is currently an Executive Assistant in the Development and Alumni Relations Office and she joined the team in December 2002. Debbie then began working for the University in 1991 and has worked within the Academic Office, the Research Office and the Faculty of Life and Health Sciences.
Debbie’s main responsibilities include working closely with the Development Services Manager, liaising with donors and University staff in receipt of awards, processing recording and reporting on financial transactions. |

| Claire Bleakley |

Support Assistant (Cultural Events & Development)
Claire joined the University of Ulster in December 1993. She worked in the Cultural Affairs’ Department first at the Riverside Theatre, Coleraine, and later when the department became part of the Development and Alumni Relations Office. Claire joined the Development Services team in 2011. Her main responsibility in the department is supporting Development meetings and providing procurement and administrative assistance.

Clerical Assistant
After leaving school, Sharon worked in the Civil Service for 16 years. Then in March 2002 Sharon began working part-time at
the University of Ulster in the Provost’s Office at the Belfast Campus in a temporary position. In October 2002, Sharon was successful in a permanent part-time position within the University, and moved to the Development and Alumni Relations Office in October 2002 to take up the position of Database Support Assistant. Her primary responsibility is to maintain the Development and Alumni Relations database.
