 Fundraising Standards

On accepting a gift or donation to the University of Ulster, the University of Ulster undertakes that

1.                   All gifts will be used only for the purposes for which they are sought or given.

2.                   All donors will be offered the opportunity to make anonymous gifts and all research data regarding prospective donors will be held in confidence and will comply with the most recent Data Protection Act.

3.                   The University of Ulster will disclose annually the total amount of voluntary support received and the uses to which the funds have been or will be put.

4.                   All donors will be offered access to the Institution’s most recent financial statements and to other relevant public information.

5.                   The names of those serving on the Council of the University, those in positions of fundraising leadership and those in the top administration of the organisation are available on the University’s website and details can be provided to donors on request.  This information will also appear in the Annual Report.

6.                   All donors will receive acknowledgement of their gift through the University of Ulster’s Development and Alumni Relations Office.

7.                   The Gift will be handled responsibly and to the greatest advantage of the beneficiary.

Where a donor believes that the University of Ulster has contravened any of the above principles and standards, s/he should take the objection first to the Director of Communication and Development, then to the Vice-Chancellor if a satisfactory explanation is not forthcoming, and then to the Chairman of Council, who will decide whether further investigation of the alleged breach of ethics is required.
