Zhejiang University of Media and Coomunications (ZUMC) is situated in Hangzhou, the beautiful captial city of Zhejiang Province, known to the Chinese people as "Paradise on Earth". The University has two campuses, the main one in Xiasha and the other in Tongxiang, 60 kilometers to the east of the Xiasha Campus.

ZUMC is one of the two leading universities in China specialising in cultivating talents for media and communications. It has strong lnks with radio and TV stations, research institutions and other media related businesses throughout China.

Currently 9700 full-time students are studying on 45 different programs such as Chinese Announcing and Anchoring Art, English and Chinese Bilingual Announcing and Anchoring Art, Radio and TV Directing, Photography, Acting, Animation Art, Broadcast Jounralism and Broadcast Engineering in the 12 schools of ZUMC

ZUMC is a modern, outward-looking institution with excellent facilities and resources to to assist students in their studies. The University is well equipped with advanced teaching and experimental facilities that create and guarantee students a professionally efficient and people-friendly learning environment.

About 100 labs are in use serving the shool's daily teaching of film and TV post-production, announcing and anchoring, digital film and TV special effects, non-linear editing and other important courses in broadcast jounralism and TV/film production. The newly-invested HDTV Broadcast Van provides experimental teaching with a comprehensively better virtual and real-time broadcasting environment. The 22-storey multi-functional Media Tower at an investment of 20 million USD, houses 17 broadcasting studios of various sizes and has now become a production base for teaching and research activities as well as TV programme making.

The University holds more than 900 000 printed items on various subjects, in addition to vast quantities of audio-visual materials for learning and teaching. It has become a regional centre for media and broadcast resources in the country.

Foreign effective partnerships are integral to ZUMC's belief in maximising the social impact of its intellectual resources. Recent years of rapid development are marked by ZUMC's active cooperation with local, national and international partners in education and the media industry. This has made ZUMC a particularly well known Chinese institution in the broadcast industry to our partners in the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, Sweden, South Korea, France, Germany, Italy and other countries. So far over 40 institutions of higher learning in these countries have established cooperation with us in student/teacher exchange projects, short-term visit, teacher training, various joint-programmes and other international academic activities. The partnership has brought about new ideas and modes of management and in particular, a broad space for learning, teaching and research and wider choices for students entering and graduating from ZUMC.
