Research and Practice in Higher Education
Research and Practice in Higher Education (RaPHE), incorporating pedagogic research, has been identified as a key area that will provide informed narrative around a range of issues, with the potential to strengthen cross-disciplinary engagement.
A successful workshop held in January, facilitated by Professor David Boud, sought to identify and clarify the various strands of activity:
Research-led and research-informed teaching
This strand seeks to explore ways in which staff research is used to inform teaching and learning, identify effective practice and encourage its integration into curricula at all levels.
Pedagogic research
Many colleagues across the University have been engaged in pedagogic research and have made a significant contribution to practice through publications, conference presentations and nationally-funded projects. Given that much of the pedagogic research conducted probably has a strong generic dimension, the group is seeking to facilitate mechanisms whereby effective practice can be shared across the institution.
Research-based learning RaPHE
Aims to explore the opportunities that are available to students to experience and carry out research throughout their course, regardless of their level of study.
