Students’ Union

The Students' Union is situated mainly in Block 11 above the Sports Centre. The Foyer at the Mall entrance opens into an exhibition area which incorporates the campus Travel Office, Union Shop and Insurance Office, alongside a bank service till and colour photo booth. The Foyer opens into a function hall which incorporates a cafeteria and the main Club Bar. In the evenings, the hall opens to become a major entertainments venue. There are regular discos and live music. The Lounge Bar is open every evening, and offers satellite television, video games, pool and snooker.

Sport

There are two large sports halls, a fully equipped gymnasium, fitness suite, five squash courts, an eight-lane swimming pool and a hydrotherapy pool. The indoor sports facilities cater for a wide range of sports and recreational activities including archery, basketball, fencing, martial arts, badminton, table-tennis, netball, indoor soccer, indoor hockey, indoor tennis, and keep-fit. The playing fields are on-campus and accommodate a wide variety of sports including camogie, gaelic football, hockey, hurling, rugby, soccer and tennis. A floodlit synthetic pitch is used for training and coaching. These excellent facilities are used by the University sports clubs for practice and for matches in the local leagues. Water sports are provided for at a local marina and on the River Lagan.
