investing in excellence in sport

The University has an established track record of achievement in Sport. Its students have performed at national and international level across a wide range of sports. Through the development of Sports Institute Northern Ireland (SINI) the University is establishing state-of-the-art facilities, upgrading existing sports infrastructure and recruiting expert coaching staff and administrators to achieve this goal.

SINI is a partnership between the University and the Sports Council for Northern Ireland. Close working relationships have been established between the partners and structures and staff are in place to deliver the services of the Institute.

The development plan for SINI includes dedicated sports science and sports medicine laboratories, treatment rooms, conditioning and strength training facilities and accommodation for coaches, athletes and support staff. The Institute will also provide expert assistance and advice in nutrition and diet, building on the University’s research excellence in these disciplines.
