regional development

The Regional Development Office achieved considerable success in establishing a two-way gateway between business, commerce and the University.

Business Workshops were hosted throughout the region, targeting small enterprises that had not previously engaged with the University. The University played a key role in the inaugural ‘Northern Ireland Innovation Conference’ hosted jointly with IRTU in May 2001.The event brought international speakers and drew a high calibre audience from higher education institutions, public and private sectors.

The University has played a pivotal role in promoting the region in collaboration with the IDB. For the second year in succession a team of senior academic staff exhibited at the CEBiT 2001 Technology Trade Fair in Hanover. The inaugural InterTradeIreland Board meeting was held at the Magee campus.
