crocodiles in the news

TV coverage on environmental topics included work on crocodiles in Mauritania by Claire GuyerCrocodiles in the news and Tara Shine, and tree frogs in China as part of Professor Chris Shaw’s work on the biomedical applications of venoms.

Chris also visited the Baltimore Aquarium which has a frog-infested indoor rain forest while on his way to give a lecture to the National Institutes of Health Bio-organic Chemistry Department. Chris and Professor Bernie Hannigan, Dean of the Faculty of Life and Health Sciences participated in the International Conference on Advanced Biotechnology, in Trivandrum, India.

visual acuity

Professor Roger Anderson established a collaboration with the Pavlov Institute in St Petersburg on paediatric visual acuity development and was been awarded a Wellcome Collaborative Research Initiative Grant, together with Professor Angel Vassilev at the Institute of Physiology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia. Professor Vassilev became a Visiting Scholar of the University.

gender agenda

Ms Carmel Roulston was invited to lecture to a Central European University sponsored Summer School on Gender Studies in Ivanovo, Russia, in July 2001.
