I am pleased to announce that the Forum for Access and Continuing Education (FACE) Annual Conference will be hosted by the University of Ulster, Magee campus, in Derry ~ Londonderry from the 4th – 6th July 2012.
The conference title is Widening Access to Higher Education in 'Divided Communities' with six key themes:
Submissions are being called for paper abstracts as well as posters and should relate to the conference themes. ALL abstracts and posters must be submitted for consideration by 30 May 2012.
The following links give information on submitting an abstract/paper, accommodation, method of payment, social activities and the host city (which is the first UK City of Culture in 2013).
I would recommend that you book your place at the conference as soon as possible as delegate places will be strictly limited to 200. Delegates who book before 18 May 2012 can avail of a special ‘Early Bird’ rate (FACE Members £240; non FACE Members £280; Students £230. Single Day attendance will be charged at £80 per day).
In relation to accommodation it should be noted that the Conference clashes with the Clipper Round the World Race which is in Derry ~ Londonderry during 1st – 7th July, 2012 so finding a place to stay may prove difficult. Accommodation has been provisionally reserved (from 4* hotels to ensuite student accommodation) at preferential rates for FACE delegates but is only guaranteed until January 2012. It is important therefore that you also book your accommodation as soon as possible. Details are available on the Accommodation page of the Conference website.
Other activities included as part of the conference fee are a Mayor’s reception, Gala Dinner with entertainment and optional tours.
There is also an opportunity to extend your stay in Derry ~ Londonderry, nearby Donegal, The Antrim Coast or Belfast at preferential FACE delegate rates.
The conference team look forward to hosting your visit to the FACE conference in the historic and vibrant city of Derry ~ Londonderry where you will be guaranteed céad míle fáilte (a hundred thousand welcomes).
