NOTICE BOARD
 
The Code of Practice for External Examining of Taught Programmes of Study and nomination and report forms have been revised  in line with Chapter 7: External Examining (October 2011) of the new UK Quality Code for Higher Education. See External Examiners (January 2012)

A new CA9 form has been introduced to support the recording of credit-bearing short courses on the Banner Student Records and Information System.

Assessment Handbook 2011

The 2011 edition of the Assessment Handbook has been published on the Academic Office website.  The document is not being issued in hard copy to all staff as the changes from the 2009 edition are minor, to include Principles of Assessment and Feedback for Learning (1.3) and the revised Policy on the Accreditation of Prior Learning (13) approved in June 2011.

2010 Changes

  • a paper 'Assessment 2020, seven propositions for assessment reform in higher education' (D Boud and Associates 2010); (Section 1.2, Appendix A);
  • revised regulations on retention of examination material (2.9, 3.6);
  • University policy on individual assessment in group work (9);
  • revised invigilation policy (19.2).
 

Changes to the University's Regulatory Framework for Taught Courses (25 June 2009)

A number of changes to the University’s regulatory framework have been agreed from 2009/10.  These affect:

Credit Levels (May 2009)

Credit levels have been renamed from 2009/10 in light of the revised national Framework for Higher Education Qualifications published by the Quality Assurance Agency in 2008.  There is no change to the level descriptors; only the titles are changed.  The new levels and their correspondence to old levels are set out below:

Within University Access to Higher Education courses offered by Regional Colleges, levels 1 and 2 are also used for specific modules.

 
External Examiner Nominations (Oct 2011)

The deadline for receipt of External Examiner nominations for 2012/13 appointments is 25 May 2012.
